I am facing problems with my cryla flat coat which used to be really great as introduced and taught by the guys at xenomorph, but now , the more I airbrush the flatcoat , the glossier it seems to become. Em114

They say that too long never use , the particles set liao . And must put in hot water , then stir, then filter , then can use again . Blood0ni

So I was wondering what sort of flat coat do all the guys here use?
I have all the different flats Mr Hobby got... acrylic flat, super clear sprays, bottled flat...

And naka's flat also...
how is nakamoto's flat? Must mix with thinner etc?
Mr Hobby has bottled flat? How it looks like? I haven come across it before. Mix with thinner before use?

Its pre-thinned. I still haven't got the hang of using this one yet... so far i got slight semi-gloss result...

Its the same bottle as the rest of the Mr Color series. no. 182 is one. But there are a few types, there's the UV Cut one, then there's Super Clear, Super Clear 2, (labelled on the bottles) I'm also quite lost in all of that... i juz use the bottled UV Cut ones. And it needs to be thinned, same ratio as regular paint.

No. 184 Super Clear Gloss is also available in a larger bottle, same size as the Surfacer bottles.
I use Mr Colour bottled Super Clear Flat Wink-wink
No problem AB during hot or rainy days.
u mean no.182 can be used directly? cause i was told that it must be mixed with colour for the matt effect and cannot be used directly. ermm...so which is which?Em114

The one you mix with colour for matt effect is Flat Base, no. 30.
Dun get so confused leh..

All Mr. Hobby lacquer type paints 182 and 187 all needs to be thinned. Only diff is that 187 is UV Cut, which can prevents white turning yellow.

I used 187 ALL the time. Only once when I ran out of 187, I used 184 add with 30 (Flat Base) to get my flat coat.

To correct fogging, simply wait for the fog to settle down, like 15 mins. Then load up with just thinner, spray lightly on the part till the fog disappear. Repeat this until fog no longer appear it dries.

The fogging is due to water present in the coat. Be it in atmosphere, or .. water. Em112 Yes water, as my compressor will spray water ater a while. Em115

Also be careful with the type of paint u use for flat coat. If you have used water based acrylic on any of your part, u cannot use lacquer based paint on top of that anymore!

Now that's a tip... if it were me, i'd strip and redo liao... heh, thanks!
