I use chalk pastels quite a fair bit but use it as a wash. Been using it since aircraft modeling days as it's easier to control, easily corrected when I c*ckup and best of all, 1 stick of chalk pastel goes a looooong way.

The pastel wash method I use is taken from here.
thanks G for all your help , I appreciate it alot. Smile .

I normally use enamel for washes on the mecha and on the landscape oil because it blends the colours nicely , and landscape messy nevermind .

I was wondering about dry application and application with turpentine or alcohol. You tried it before?
i tried this out for the first time on my sd dom. Have to say i like it very much!

as for applying it dry, the only problem is on how well it sticks to the surface. it rubs off pretty easily, so you gotta be careful in handling it to avoid finger prints, smudges etc

its fine after a top coat though
In the case of chalk pastels, to apply it dry, make sure the surface is FLAT COATED, not gloss. This allows the powdered pastels to adhere better. However be aware of the high chance of fingerprints when using this method.
haha, if you find a modified moblie ginn with finger prints , that's mine ;P thanks for all the help , will be experiment
