This is getting interesting. Instead of looking at the MG kit, you guys are looking at the display gallery!!
Yes it is at work place. My boss allows us to display "creative" things, including gundams, as we inolve in highly creative works. So everyone who comes in will see this, and most people WILL take at least a glance, not to mention staring at them for a long long time!! So it became my "hall of gundam" as max put it.
Ok how I did the metal? I have done a few kinds of metallic effect but so far, this is the best method. Not the most expensive one, but not cheapest either! Here is how it is done.
1. Spray a coat of gloss black as base, as with all other silver-tone metallic colours. This is a MUST!! Dun cut this step!!
2. Mix a bottle of Super Metallic - Super Iron (SM03)
![[Image: 0170110000032.jpg]](http://www.gogdp.com/shopimages/gogdv/0170110000032.jpg)
with Mr.Color Nos.101 Smoke Gray at a ratio of 1:1. Why? The Super Iron is a dark iron, but even after spraying on, it is just too bright for iron. Adding Smoke Gray tone it down further, adding a hue of brown, and made it looks more "heavy"!
3. Spray over the coat of gloss black. Done.
4. Optionally, I DID spray another layer of Smoke Gray randomly over the parts, but becos it is so faint, it is not evident, even when looking at the real kit. So this is redundant...
But this is not the best effect!! The best effect would comes from this:
1: as above
2: dun mix, just spray SM03 on the gloss black.
3: after it dried (about 15 mins will do), over spray a light coat of Mr.Color 101 Smoke Gray!! Becos you will NEVER be able to spray evenly for all parts at all portions, the randomness will adds a layer of "metallic" feel to it!!
The advantage of this painting method is not only its metallic feel, but also it made the joints so tough that it can do any pose and hold them there!! Somehow, the metallic paint grips very well and is very resistant to scratches!!
Try it out on some scrap and you will know what I mean.. hope can give me more pointers...

Hope you guys like it.. I separate the Wings from the kit becos it would interfere with the sword and that the little plane would becomes meaningless... and small. Now at least it is carrying the wings!

Nice and Easy Kit. Do it.

Sigh.. although it looks better with the shield opened, there are 2 reasons why I did not let it open.
1. Only after the attachment of the Force Silhouette that the shield will open. In this case, it is still "unattached". So "logically", it is not suppose to open.
2. This is the MAIN reason: after opening the shield, it interfere with the shoulder piece!! This means that it cant do any good pose because the shield and the shoulders block each other!! If I were to tilt the shield, then it will looked funny.
Anyway, holding the Excalibur with teh shield closed looks far more convincing and beautiful.
