I seldom go to the cinemas nowadays and I only watch them on my PDA/PSP or on the plane when I travel.

Once a while, some movie out of the main stream will catches your attention wanting you to watch them.

First up...

Saw Bubble Fiction: Boom or Burst on my flight to Tokyo recently.

It was a very nice and funny movie. Feel very light hearted after watching it.

Story goes:

Mum travels back in time to prevent Japan Economy from collapsing in the future.
Daughter follows through to look for Mum and adventure begins.

Quite refreshing to look back in the early 90s.

Do ignore the 'sense' in Time Travel and just enjoy the story telling.

Red Cliff by John Woo

- doesn't 'feel' like a John Woo movie. Sure there's slow motion and the doves, but at least it's subtly done.
- abit slow but it's understandable since it's a 2-parter
- don't watch if you expect Juge Liang, Liu Bei, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu to be the heroes. Red Cliff is based on historical records, NOT Romance of the Three Kingdoms
- CGI blood abound which sometimes look unrealistic
- battles are clearly based on proper strategy, not the mass rushing orgy that LOTR has popularized

I liked it. Most of my friends didn't. But we had different expectations when the movie started...

Iron Man
- good show. nicely paced storyline.
- the armor is just sooooooo cool.
- could've been my movie of the year...damn that joker...

...Wall-E, its amazing to see how they bring emotions and story telling with character that can't speak a lot ...

Mama Mia!

Not much of a story, but just sit back, relax and enjoy the fun. (and yes, Pierce Bronsnan singing is really ....)

i was planning to watch wt gf this week leh.

Oops... paiseh... the last out of ordinary one was paprika... my fren went got HD version from somewhere. Me and my wife watched it stutter from beginning til end on my 3Ghz Pentium computer... my 22 widescreen still not big enough to see fullscreen...

Nice show though, I like the horizontally challenged dude.
