i'm not a viper fan, but this time i think i can do a review. having built, or in the process of building the worst and the best kits on the market, academy's new kit sets new levels of accuracy in this scale. much like their previous release the f-8 crusader, this kit is packed with rivet details and the landing gear and decals provided are crisp and salivating.

on to the pics!

the sprue layout is simple, 2 frames of weapons and 1 for the airframe and another for the wings.

decal sheet from cartograf is simply worth the kit itself. wolfpack and 79th tiger are the highlights.

the clear canopy comes tinted, but unfortunately has a seam line running straight down the middle ala hasegawa. this makes repairing the sanded down canopy difficult as one has to still match the smoke tint after.

overall, the kit is packed with details, and the weapons and decals make it worth every dollar. i am still building the kit as i speak. so i'll post my buildup review soon.
Wow. The thing comes with both extended and normal parabrake chute. Nice. I guess it only builds into the blk 50 or 40 Viper huh? With MCID mouth and bulged wheels.

Question: Does it include the WAR HUD? Can't really see in the baggy of clear parts.
so fast u get this kit!!!!Big-eyes looks very nice indeed. where u get urs man?

I saw the kit for myself too. WAR HUD is included. But only MCID inlet and GE exhaust. But all the power plant parts are on one sprue so a NSI/P&W combo will likely follow.

In terms of quality, it looks like the 1/32 kit shrunk down. It even has the silver bottle and battery box in the landing gear bay.
@ mechaed, yes, includes the WAR hud, whatever that is. comes as a clear part on the clear sprue.

@link, miniature hobby, fresh from the factory stock, the 1/72 hornet also have.

and looking at the sprues and assembling, i find out something important, the longtail housing is for block 52 version, with the additional RWRs on either side. and the possibility of small mouth NSI and pratt whitney exhaust nozzles means only 1 thing

they are going to rebox the thing, throw in a new sprue, and make a 1/72 blk 52+ CJ, and this kit will be able to make polish, greek, israel, and most importantly some would say, singapore versions.. and switching between short tail and long tails, engine fits, mean u can do pretty much any C model and operators of C models. i just hope they give the decal sheet with that many countries..
wow!!! Thats a really slick kit man...i saw it there on Friday, so want to get that kit instead i got the 1/72 F-16A due to the lack of...moneyCry0ef..haha..envy you alot bro...Saliva8zc
Wow! that sure is a superb kit to build king_goju Lol yeah i'll hop down and get the kit myself...

so the panel lines are sunken? did you have to do much filing and/or sanding for the parts other than for the tinted canopy? (:
i bought the rokaf version. its the same mould xcept for the decals. i must say the details are crisp and nice. Smile
