Some words from our judges:
Pazu:
Compared to WOOB05, this WOOB has shown a big leap in overall standards. This is really very encouraging. Almost everyone scored above average in construction which is really the most important basic skill one must learn in modelling. Improvements can also be seen in presentation which was the judges' biggest gripe. I hope all participants can take my words here constructively though they might be harsh at times. I think everyone is a winner in this event that really demostrate that with some effort, everyone can improve.
Erix93:
I notice that some members really do a great job on their kit,
& some of their work are truely amazing...
aspecially those “blink blink” looks...
(I’m affraid I also can’t make something like that
)
But is good that every one also like to try some new things
& new technic. & that’s the spirit!!
Anyway, need to thanx everyone for giving support
to Plamo - WOOB2, hoope there will be another compy
in next year! Thanks again & pardon my lousy bad english.
Whitebase:
Again as what I said last year, I feel extremely out of place being one of the judges. But since the other admins of Plamo has insisted that I continue as judge for woob2, I graciously accept this responsibility. After looking at the entries this year, I am very pleased to note that the overall standard of the entires has improved quite a bit from last year. I can say that most if not all the kits were completed with all the basics covered. So great work you all who participated! However, I did note that the creativity level still needs a bit improvement. Given the constraints of the competition where modifications are not allowed, you can only score additional points if you do other things which are out of the norm, such as custom colour schemes, camo effect, scribe new panel lines, custom decal etc. It'll be extremely difficult for you to get good scores, if the kit is really a PURE OOB with standard colours etc, as there is nothing diferentiating your entry from the others. So take note that if your hard work is not easily spotted in your final pics, it'll be difficult for you to earn points from them.
So here's how i judged this year. Since the subject matter is an MG, fixing of seams are much easier compared to the 1/144 woob last year, so the scoring for construction is pretty standard. Scores for painting is also pretty standard, and I gave a very level score for paint job, unless you exhibited a special skill in achieving a certain look / finish. As for creativity, this is where i scored you on first impression, pose, decals, panel lining, additional details, custom colour scheme etc. Thanks to the members who participated and making this compy a success, and thanks to Plamo for organising this!
Judging Begins:

1. MG MS-07B Gouf
By great
Comments:
Pazu:
Another overall good entry. No flaws IMO, just a little boring.
Erix93:
Nice build, this is one of my favourite in WOOB 2. I like the 1st pic.
Nice photos. Weatering effect looks good to me, not too much & less.
Just the I feel that some shading on the dark blue & light blue color
abit miss match. Aspecially those pipes...
Whitebase:
The overall finishing of the kit is pretty good.
The shading looks a bit patchy at some areas, and doesn't look very controlled / refined.
Asides from this, the kit looks pretty standard, and does not score much bonus points on creativity.

2. MG Gundam RX-78 CA
By kencheong
Comments:
Pazu:
This could have been an interesting paint scheme except that it has been done a million times before.
Good effort but some shading would have at least made it more interesting.
Erix93:
Nice clean build, but the glossy colors makes all the mistakes
shown from the pics. You din sand off the simlines on sword,
the edge of the yellow part on the neck.
The yellow color on the chest vents is difference with the 3 small flips.
You din really clean up some panel lines.
Whitebase:
The first thing I noticed about the kit was that its seems to be a Char's custom,
with the neo-zeon marking and a zeon like emblem on the shoulder,
but the scheme is blue and white.
Also as pointed out in your thread, the emblem was ont opaque enough to coverthe blue underneath.
This is something to take note of when using transfers / waterslides in your next kits.

3. MG RGM-79(G) GM Sniper
By Acguy4ever
Comments:
Pazu:
The single color paint scheme is difficult to pull off right but could have so much potential (see box art).
Overally very well made entry.
Erix93:
Very original feel on the color.
The main problem of theis kit is the sniper gun.
The dry brush effect is too heavy compare with the whole kit.
Looks like the sniper was having a great fight than the GM... (
)
It really spoil everything about the presentation.
Whitebase:
The finished colours look to close to the original bare plastic colours,
plus I don't see much shading from your pics.
Also, the rifle looks a bit too weathered compared to the mech.

4. MG RX78-2 Version 1.0
By madcap386
Comments:
Pazu:
OMG! I still can't believe this is handpainted!
Supremely well painted, weathering is heavy but done right.
Paint scheme is very very cool.
Erix93:
A very unique color scheme to me,
but the bule colors seems like abit too contrast...
if can turn the dark blue to abit more lighter might be better.
I like the weathering & damage.
It really amazing that this kit is done by handpainting.
Next time try to set all thepic with a same width.
Whitebase:
No matter how many times I see it, it still amazes me.
You've taken hand painting to a whole new level with the mastery of the subtle weathering as well.
And I like the fact you're trying out new stuff wit the camo effect.
However, my only gripe is the choice of light blue which looks a bit off to me.

5. MG Rick Dom
By ZeRoCoOl
Comments:
Pazu:
Good finishing overall. Nothing really bad except it being a little boring. Shading is too heavy.
Erix93:
A very shining & glossy Rick Dom.
Nice & clean, but I still can see that the fingers there....
got some gabs that you din sand off.
Why Zeon mecha got "Titans Test Team" logo?
Whitebase:
You mentioned in your thread that you layered a a heavy matt coat because you don;t like glossy and clean mechs. the finished product still looks very glossy! Construction wise, there's a very visible seam on the cannon. Other that that, nothing much to comment, overall OK build, but lack any special gimmicks to score you more points. Also, the poses seem a bit static and awkward.

6. MG Gyan
By T1000
Comments:
Pazu:
Firstly, the painting is really good.
Very good application of decals.
The biggest downfall is the relatively poor finishing of seams…
(Sorry the close-up photos are the downfall)
Erix93:
Nice pastel color feel, nice pose, nice presentation.
Clean build, but still can see some hidden error surface from the pics..
The weatering / washing inside the sheild holder there....
feel like very messy....
other than that. It looks great to me.
Whitebase:
Nice finishing, but like many other entries in this woob,
lack any special elements to earn you some bonus points on creativity.

7. RX-78-2 Ver OYW 0079
By X20A
Comments:
Pazu:
Very good shading.
This would have been a flawless piece if only if the paint scheme is more interesting.
Erix93:
Very clean looking OYW RX78.
Try not to use FLASH during this kind of photo shooting.
I like the gold color piston. Makes it looks someting special.
Whitebase:
Nice finishing on the kit. Very nicely executed preshading.
However, the kit just looks like any other standard build and will not score you much creativity points.

8. MS-07B Gouf
By Asura
Comments:
Pazu:
Nice effort in a alternative paint scheme but paintwork is too rough and lacking in proper shading.
Erix93:
Nice color scheme but the masking job was terrible.
I think U had miss AB some area because
still can see some blue color left in some area.
Whitebase:
Very bright and sporty looking colourscheme.
But from the pics, it looks like you used a standerd surfacer (grey) instead of white,
and the yellow cannot cover the colour of the surfacer,
resulting in a greenish tone at some areas.
We've mentioned this in several threads, in the tech talk, and also some of the earlier works.
Take note of this in your future works. Masking is quite poor around the spikes.

9. MS-09 Mobile Suit
By NoSense
Comments:
Pazu:
Good attempt at detailing but it's a little too rough.
Painting leaves much to be desired.
Erix93:
The miss match between glossy & the silver color dry brush had spoiled
makes your kit looks bad, maybe next time when U plan to make a glossy looks mecha,
just forget about the weathering & dry brush...
make it just a simple glossy shinning & clean looking that's all.
Anothing thing is, why you din't paint all those transparent parts?
Aspecially the mono eye?
Whitebase:
I ougth to minus marks for presenting 2 versions in the finished line!
should we judge on the gloss finish or the flat finish?
The gloss one is quite bad, and makes it look like a chogokin toy.
The flat on is much much better! The overall finished product does not earn you good marks for painting,
but you do get some bonus for creativity on the self scribed emblem.

10. MG MS-14A Gelgoog (custom colour scheme)
By akatsuki
Comments:
Pazu:
Excellent overall color, scheme and decaling.
I don't know if the pre-shade color is purposely chosen for this effect but it is suitable.
However, it's border lining on over shaded because of the high contrast.
Erix93:
I like this Gelgoog very much,
the panel lines on the shoulder & the decals there,
makes your Gelgoog looks much more unique.
good control on the shading & weathering.
Only one comments about the decal on the sheild;
there should have some shading same as the shading on the sheild...
now the white color looks too clean compare with the sheild & it's panelins there.
Nice pose & photo shooting.
Whitebase:
I like this piece. The markings are pretty cool, and the colourscheme is quire nice.
Weird placement of the zeonlogo on the feet.
Imagine this, the zeon logo is their pride and they should be wearing the emblem with respect.
I don't think they's put it at the feet so that looks a bit out of place.
Also, right now the dark parts look glossier that the lighter parts and look a bit out of place.
a mist layer of flat coat on the entire model should even out the tone.

11. MS-07B Gouf
By Red Comet
Comments:
Pazu:
Interesting paint scheme but the scheme seems a bit lost at what it's trying to show.
Would have looked much better with a uniform clear finish.
Erix93:
Very nice looking Gouf you got there.
I like the sandy color scheme, & the dry brush effect too.
but I'm not sure about the shiny black on the chest.
Whitebase:
You mentioned you were trying out different mixes of techniques,
but from the finished I see a weird mix of gloss and matt finish on the surface which is a bit unusual.
Don't know if it was intentional, but 1st impression mark is not that good.
This is because from the final result, it is not clearly evident what effect it was you set out to achieve.
Is it gloss? Is it candy coat? Also, I find the colourshceme a bit dull,
with lack of additional details / markings to give you any additional points.
Be mindful of this when joining competitions, and make sure your model screams out at the areas you want the judge to tke notice off.

12. MS-07B3 Gouf Custom
By wingzero78
Comments:
Pazu:
Need more care in construction.
Over weathering in random places is not really weathering.
The original Gouf paint scheme looks great but it can look better with better shading.
Erix93:
Nice build, but abit meesy on the washing.
Miss control on the decals/ sticker had makes your kit looks bad.
Whitebase:
Again, you lightly weathered the mech indicating an intention to go for the realistic look.
The silver markings on the shiled look really our of place.
The weathering is also done quite haphazardly, and I don't see any preshading either.
Looks like just a flat 1tone finish, followed by a sloppy wash.
The edges of your decals are showing in the pics. a top coat should help.

13. RX 78.2 VER. OYW
By Shin_Asuka
Comments:
Pazu:
Being a relatively new kit, many modeller may be misled to think that virtually no clean up of seams is required.
IMO, this is a big mistake. Very good and subtle shading.
Erix93:
I really cannot see it clear because you had post all the finished kit
in such a small sizes picture, but the only one WIP you post in a large size.
Pardon me, but now I feel like looking at a Gashapon figure.
Whitebase:
Overall nice and clean build, but very standard and does not give me any room to award special points for creativity.
Poses look a bit awkward in some of the pics also.
Since this is a clean build, a bit more decals would have been good.

14. MG Ez-8 (MS 08th Team) Weathered
By Stan.By.Gundam
Comments:
Pazu:
Good application of weathering though a little too heavy.
One has to wonder how does such a heavily weathered mecha stays so glossy.
Erix93:
Nice weathering, but how come the face looks so clean & bright?
There still got a big gab on the bazooka, check the last 2 pics.
Whitebase:
Good try on the weathering, but preshading seems a bit overly done at some areas.
The weathering looks like its done a bit haphazardly and lack realism.
The rain streak marks don't look like they conform to gravity pull.
And again… NEVER pose your gundam with droopy shoulders!

15. Completed Zaku I
By oldman
Comments:
Pazu:
oldman has shown tremendous improvement in construction in since the last WOOB.
Very nice.
The shading is too heavy and inappropriate at places.
Good attempt at adding some damaged effect. Thumbs up!
Erix93:
I like the rough surface effect on the shoulder & the knee part.
Nice the color scheme, but notice that if you can spend more time on
painting those small round things ( like round mold ) on the legs,
would be better. (Since you close up that area & show to us)
Those pipes on the axe, U din sand properly.
it could be much more better if you use needle fil or hand drill
to make those damage area.
Whitebase:
Overall OK build. No visible seams so construction is OK.
Colour wise, it looks a bit out of place.
You've put in some battle damage on the shield, so you want to achieve the realistic look.
But the rest of the body is just purely preshading, with no additional weathering.
So it looks a bit mismatched. Same thing for the bazooka as well.
Too heavy shading and dry brushing and does not jive with the rest of the kit.

Comments:
Pazu:
Very interesting painting.
I am amazed at the ingenuity behind the idea of the masked motifs.
Very creative.
Erix93:
Super nice & clean finishing I must say.
Nice color scheme.
Nice decals, but looks like got 2 difference green shown on the sheild
after you apply the decal.
And if you can put in some more small warning or numberic decals
on this mecha would be much more better. Now it looks too plan.
Only one thing to take note if you plan to do another kit with clean finishing.
Notice the small "hole" on the right skirt? You miss cover it with putty I think.
But overall it's still looks great!! Great job!
Whitebase:
The first picture had me going 'wow this one looks good'…
So you score good on first impression marks.
There's a huge 'sinkhole on the front skirt which you didn't fix though…
Nice colour scheme, nice panel lines, and I like the fact you washed the panel lines with a darker green.

Comments:
Pazu:
Construction is a little rough.
While the paint scheme is excellent, the irregular shading spoils the look some what.
The choice of decals is very good but less than stellar application of pulled down the points.
Erix93:
Very original G3 color scheme. I like it.
Just that need to take note on the masking work aspecially on the V-fin.
Some area was abit dirty or rough, other than that, it's still an OK to me.
Still got a lots of room space for you to improve, keep it up!
Whitebase:
Close ups reveal some flaws in the paint job. Vfins not sharpened,
and washes are sloppy at a few areas. Very nice colour scheme and nice presentation.
The tone ofblue on the left skirting looks a bit lighter that the rest.
Don't know if this is intentional, but it looks as though you ran out of paint and had to remix a new batch,
hence the difference in tone. Be careful of this. If you intend to make different tones,
make sure its noticeable enuf to be seen as intentional. Otherwise it would be regarded as a flaw.

Comments:
Pazu:
Very nicely constructed and painted.
Overall great use of decals for detailing, not "over-decaled".
Could have put in a better paint scheme.
Erix93:
Nothing for me to complain about this kit.
If really wants to complain... maybe next time try to get a new & clean color paper
as your photo shooting background.... hahaha.
Good luck!!
Whitebase:
Overall good finish. No visible seams, nice placement of decals.
But overall looks to be a standard build.
No extra points of gimmicks, colourscheme or detailing.

Comments:
Pazu:
While I can definitely see the effort put into this kit, the end result is not very pleasing.
Firstly, its too rough.
Secondly, the decals are over used.
Thirdly, the whole look is very un-coordinated.
Erix93:
Those extra panel lines & detailing is "ROCK"! But the drybrushing on the bazooka spoil
the overall out look of the EZ8.
The way you do the drybrush shown very messy compare with the mecha,
din't match the mecha & makes your kit looks truely bad....
But I have to say that your patient of working on this kit is excellent!
The way you use to painting this kit was very "special" too.
Keep iy up!!
Whitebase:
Overall construction is good, with no visible seams.
This is especially good considering it’s a bootleg kit.
However, some points were lost in painting, due the mismatch between a preshaded worn out look,
but very clean decals / markings making it look unrealistic.
Also, the drybrushing on the bazooka is a bit overly done compared with the rest of the mech. I like the custom colourscheme you gave it.

By Flanker
Comments:
Pazu:
Am really not quite sure what to think of this.
Is it trying to pass off as a die cast toy?
Un-imaginative paint scheme.
Erix93:
It's really looks like a Chogokin more than a plastic kit to me.
The V-fin never sharped.
The top of the cockpit area there... din sand properly & still can see a "hole" there.
Er... what happen to it's left arm?
Looks like has been shot by enemy & can't move anyway.
Whitebase:
Nice clean finish. Interesting scheme, but comparing with the other gloss finish entries,
this one is slightly below par. The pose is a bit weak as well. Take note of shoulder pads.
NEVER pose the kit with droopy shoulder pads.

Comments:
Pazu:
Excellent painting and finishing.
Shading is really done right and the choice of decals makes for very good detailing.
Erix93:
The red color is NICE!!! I like it!!
The black color on it's body was too dark & too contrast
when it stand together with the red.
Try to do some drybrush on the edge ofthe balck to make it more stand out.
The gab line between the lower body & the skirt there.. abit rough, have to take note on that.
Whitebase:
Very beautifully finished kit. Like the bright red very much.
The washes look a bit sloppy at certain areas.

Comments:
Pazu:
Very nice smooth gloss finish.
Good color choice and the subtle or lack of shading is actually more suitable for this kind of high gloss finish.
Erix93:
Super "blink-blink" Gelgoog!!!
Nice & clean! Neat & fine!!
Cool color scheme, nice decals, great photo shooting & presentation!
Everything just looks great!! What a classic mecha!!
Only thing is... I still can see there was some area you miss sand properly...
The armor of the right arm, the leg; there was 2 "dots" still need to cover up.
Good luck!
Whitebase:
Another piece with incredible gloss effect! Pose is a bit too static, and colour scheme is a bit bland.
Some of the sprue stubs were not cleaned off properly, and showed in the pics.

Pazu:
Another well constructed piece.
Not sure if I like the super glossy finish by I can't deny how well its done and the huge effort required.
In a entry like this, I would probably add some flat finished portions or decals to really touch it up.
Erix93:
Another super "blink-blink".....
I like the 1st & 2nd pic, it looks much more nicer than the indoor.
Nothing more for me to critism.
Btw, where's the decals? Dry transfer? Anything?
Good luck!!
Whitebase:
Incredible gloss effect! Really superb finishing.
Would be better if the claws were harpened a bit. The pose is a bit weak too.
The Zgok has really good poseability, from the pics, its not doing it justice.
Some decals would be nice.

Comments:
Pazu:
Excellent construction with no visible flaw.
Lost part not being replaced immediately is rather understandable since it’s a straight replacement.
Very good paint application and pass off the clean look well. Very good design and theme.
IMO, if there is another dark color added to some areas, this would be really perfect!
Erix93:
Very clean looking Zaku I,
the white color line on the sky blue makes it difference than the normal Zaku I.
just that, the blue was too clean & light compare with the green color.
You din fill up some panel lines.
Where's the "Lens" of the bazooka?
The mono eye.... din't "light up".....
Whitebase:
Very nice and clean build. Good subtle preshading. Nice use of white stripes.
Good poses for such an old kit. Good photographs! Some of the panel lines did not show from the washes though…
would have been better if some of the original panel lines on the kit was rescribed a bit so that the washes 'catches' more.

Pazu:
This is a new kit with very large leeway for being lazy in construction.
So every seam not cleaned up is a huge flaw IMO. IIRC, the calf part should not have a seam.
Painting is relatively well executed but finishing seems very rough, as is the masking.
Nice paint scheme though its simple, it does suit the RX-78 very well.
Side note: Please rotate your images properly before posting.... Laziness is a disease.
Erix93:
At first I must say.....
Please rotate the pics 1st before you up-load or send in for a competition, thank you! >:P
Very "CLEAN" build, hard to see any pane lines on the body parts.
the color scheme was too contrast.
but I like the way you masking for the sheild.
Remember to AB the LENS of the cannon next time.
Whitebase:
Interesting colourscheme, nice custom designed logo.
Poor masking, a lot of areas 'bleeding'.
Next time please rotate your photos before posting up…

Very well constructed for this old kit with many seams in the middle of large parts.
Painting could use a little more shading but the panel lining is very well done.
Overall a very good entry but utterly lacking in creativity and imaginary.
Erix93:
Very original color scheme of Black Trinity.
I like the white panel lines, but next time try to use gray than white,
because white is to contrast when it stand together with black color.
The drybrush on the bazooka was abit messy & dirty compare withe the mecha.
The LENS of the bazooka was abit too dark, & I can se there's was some
The pose can be improve better.

Very clean OOB. Visible seam on the mouth piece. Some smudges on the panel lines. Pose is a bit too static.

Only one comments about the decal on the sheild;
there should have some shading same as the shading on the sheild...
now the white color looks too clean compare with the sheild & it's panelins there.

Comments:

Pazu:
oldman has shown tremendous improvement in construction in since the last WOOB.

Very nicely constructed and painted.
Overall great use of decals for detailing, not "over-decaled".
Could have put in a better paint scheme.

Nothing for me to complain about this kit.
If really wants to complain... maybe next time try to get a new & clean color paper
as your photo shooting background.... hahaha.
Good luck!!

Overall good finish. No visible seams, nice placement of decals.
But overall looks to be a standard build.
No extra points of gimmicks, colourscheme or detailing.

Whitebase:
Very clean OOB. Visible seam on the mouth piece. Some smudges on the panel lines. Pose is a bit too static.
